We could not avoid it forever! Summer is back across the Plains. This is the latest advisory map from the National Weather Service. It illustrates what is happening. A strong ridge has built across the Southern and Central United States. The result is a bunch of Heat Advisories (Orange) and Excessive Heat Warnings (Purple). The jet stream is way up north across the Northern Plains and Northeast. The storm track remains active in these areas with Severe Thunderstorm Watches ongoing.
Now, we will see some changes late this weekend with some low storm chances returning to parts of the state. These low storm chances will continue into early next week before evaporating. This pattern is not at all unusual for this time of year, and we are fortunate that it waited until mid-July to return.
