I wanted to post a quick update on Hurricane Harvey tonight. As of 10:00 PM, its winds were steady at 85 MPH. Since then, it has begun its next period of intensification. A 12:00 AM update from the National Hurricane Center states that Harvey is now a Category 2 Hurricane with winds of 100 MPH. This is a look at the latest satellite image.
Here is the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center. No significant changes. A dangerous storm is still expected to impact the Texas Coast. Due to weak steering winds, Harvey has the potential move very little once inland or perhaps even loop back into the Gulf of Mexico. This is why the cone of uncertainty remains so large.
Hurricane Harvey is now in range of the Brownsville radar. Here is a screenshot of the radar.
