The best rain chances have been over the western part of the state. This will change this next week as a disturbance approaches from the east. Rain chances will increase across East Texas on Tuesday, spreading westward Tuesday night. The 4th of July will not be a wash-out, but many across the eastern half of the state will see a decent chance for showers and storms during the day. As the disturbance continues westward, so will the rain chances. You can see a loop of the rain chances below. It shows rain chances on Tuesday, Tuesday night, Wednesday, Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night, and Friday.
The good news is that the overall severe risk appears very low. Locally heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds appear to be the hazards at this time. Not everyone will see rain during this time, but many will at least have a slight chance. A slight chance is better than no chance at all in July.
