Significant Flooding & Bridge Collapse Today

1:00 PM CDT | October 16, 2018

We have seen multiple rounds of heavy rainfall over the last several weeks. This rainfall has been welcome in a state that had been dealing with a severe drought in many areas. Unfortunately, the grounds are so saturated now that there is a tremendous amount of runoff. This has lead to flooding issues, some significant, across the state. A bridge collapsed this morning in Kingsland, Texas, over the Llano River. You can view the video of it below.

Additional rounds of heavy rainfall are anticipated over the next couple of days before we start to really dry out. In the meantime, flooding is expected to worsen in many areas. You can see the projected rainfall amounts over the next several days below. Temperatures are well below normal today, as they were yesterday. We start to thaw a bit by Thursday, but it is not until this weekend when we will see more mild weather.
