Next cold front pushes into the state late Saturday. The cold front will continue pushing south and east on Sunday. No Wintry Precipitation is expected in Texas at this time, but Oklahoma could see some this weekend. Another system is being advertised on/around Thanksgiving Day.
It is obviously too early to get into specifics as much can change. What I can say is that I will be watching to see when our weather pattern will begin cycling. At the start of the new weather pattern in early October, we saw above normal temperatures ahead of a western trough. This system brought showers and storms, some severe, to the region. This was followed by cooler weather. In a discussion on the blog several weeks ago, I mentioned that the weather pattern could begin cycling as early as November 18th or as late as December 8th.
It remains to be seen if the system showing up with the models at the end of the forecast period (or just beyond) is the start of the second cycle or a continuation of the first. It is something to watch as we get closer.
For the latest local weather information for your area, please visit the National Weather Service website. Check the blog daily for weather updates. If you are on Facebook, I recommend (1) liking the Facebook page and (2) joining the group to help make sure you see the weather updates. Given the issues mentioned, I would suggest visiting both a few times a week to see the latest and catch up on any updates that did not show in your newsfeed.
