Warmer Weather With Potential For Strong Storms Next Week

8:15 PM CST | February 1, 2019

Temperatures continue to go up tomorrow and Sunday. We have some REALLY awesome days ahead for those who have been wanting warmer weather. With several days of southerly flow, we will have to watch the potential for strong storms next week. The model guidance shows a strong cold front pushing through the state around Thursday. This will bring an end to the spring-like weather ahead. We will have to monitor the potential for wintry precipitation by late next week. Cities such as Amarillo and Lubbock already have a slight chance for a wintry mix Thursday-Friday. How far south could this reach? We will have to wait and see as we get closer.

Looking ahead, the weather pattern after Valentine's Day favors colder than normal weather and some more opportunities for precipitation. This is not to say that nothing will happen between, but the signal for more changes and cold weather is fairly strong after Valentine's Day. I will continue to assess this potential over the next couple of weeks.
